Never Enough

Sometimes in life we feel like we are never enough or we don’t do enough, and that’s a horrible feeling. Even worse for your self worth. I believe all this not enough business starts from childhood. Growing up you probably were told you do things wrong all the time. Or you didn’t receive enough recognition for things you’ve done right, causing you to feel like you’re not enough. From personal experience, my not enough trauma stems from not hearing I’m proud of you. So I tend to do something or stay at one place until I perfect it, just to hear I’m proud of you. But that isn’t doing me any good, and staying stagnant isn’t good for anyone.

Ways that I cope with this feeling:

  1. Journaling: write down how you are feeling, if you don’t have someone to talk to that you trust.Doing this helps release everything that you’re feeling
  2. Pray: praying to me feels like therapy. I always feel lighter and reassured after talking to God. It feels like someone is listening to me. I do this when if what I’m feeling is too much to write down and my mind is all over the place.
  3. Do Something that would take your mind off your emotions. That could be engaging in outdoor activities to clear your mind, some sort of self care routine or exercise to help you feel good about yourself. Or just watching a movie to help you forget. Sometimes we just have to escape our reality, even for just an hour or two.

If anything, I’m asking that you please remember that you are enough, you are worthy of love and you are deserving of everything wonderful that life has to offer.
