Sometimes What You Want Is Not Good for You

Sometimes what you want
is wrapped in urgency
and disguised as destiny.

It feels right
because it feels immediate.
It feels necessary
because it feels close.

But not everything that glitters
is grace.
Not everything you crave
is called.

Some doors are locked
because love is protecting you.
Some prayers go unanswered
because mercy said no.

What you want
might satisfy your ego.
What God wants
will secure your future.

So when it does not work out,
when it slips through your fingers,
when the silence feels loud—

Trust that the Author
is not withholding,
He is rewriting.

And what He wants to do for you
is always better
than what you were willing
to settle for.
