In life there are many dips, bumps turns, mishaps that change the course of the plan you had for yourself. I’m pretty sure most people have a passion in life and somehow things change, and that’s okay because that’s life. But what do you do when your passion that you left behind keeps tickling that thought in the back of your head, “hey don’t forget about me”. Well that itch I can’t seem to scratch has been bothering me since the start of this pandemic and has me wondering what if.
Before I get into all of that, I remembered a few weeks ago when I decided to touch on the topic of passions, I though where do we even get our passions from. And it made me go back to something a professor told the class my sophomore year in college. Here we are bright eyed and ready to take over the world( how naive at 19 years old), fresh into our major of choice(so we think). She said something to the line of, if we think back to when we were younger, someone in some way impacted what we are studying today or what we are passionate about. That instantly brought me back to the memory of when I got my first computer and the tender age of 7-8 years old. This was in the 90’s so it was kind of a big deal. I was so intrigued with everything about it, and at the time my parents had businesses so then I was the go to person making logos and typing contracts at 8 years old, I was learning so much and having a great time at it too. I remember rushing home from school to finish my homework as fast as possible just to get more computer time.
But life happens, I lost my mom at nine years old and things weren’t really the same again, which is understandable. Somehow I found the spark again and off to college I go! But again life rears it’s ugly head and a few words were exchanged and I decided I don’t want to do this anymore. I’m tired of trying, the flame was gone but the warmth was still there. For a few years I struggled with the purpose of my life and where I was headed and everything I tried was no success.
It’s not until recently that I rekindle that relationship with my passion and now everything starts making sensed finally moving in the right direction. Things are finally looking up! I say all this to say, never forget your true passion. It’s what makes you, you. It’s you God given gift for to the world, honor it, grow with it and use it. Don’t lose sight of it, despite what others may think, or even box that you put yourself in, keep pushing.
A huge shoutout to my Dad, if it wasn’t for him I don’t even know what I would be doing now. Or even when/if I would have discovered my passion. He doesn’t even know about this, but I love and appreciate everything you’ve done. If it wasn’t for him there would be no SinajOnline.
