Growing up I was definitely one of those kids who wasn’t entirely sure what I wanted to be when I grew up. Sometimes to this day I still feel that way, my mind is always ready to turn the page and learn something new. My journey when I started college was undecided to picking a major then changing major, then back to my initial major then finally graduating as a double major. Now did I follow through with what I graduated in, not really but what I studied is a good skill to have. At that time I was following everyone else goal for my life. Somewhere along the lines of life I figured out what I studied was not my calling, it definitely can help but not my calling. As of lately with everything from the covid-19 to racism-20, it made me realize that my true calling is to help.
My experiences throughout life can truly help guide someone one day and by me not living in that, I’ll miss the point. My black voice needs to be heard and must help someone. Please understand picking a major at 18 is very hard especially if you’re someone who has no clue what you want to do, and that’s ok. Start school as undecided and take a bunch of diverse classes your first and second semester. Then for your second year narrow down on what you liked from your first year and take it from there.
Everyones dreams and passions change when they go through life, its called growth and learning. Experience is the true teacher in life, your experience help shape what you want to see changed and improved on in the future.
